Aviation headlines do not have to begin in a capital city. On 17 October 2026, attention turns to Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport, where Aviation Day 2026 will bring aircraft, aviation professionals, business leaders, technology companies and the public together for a national forum focused on the future of mobility.

Galya Raycheva is involved in the event’s organizing work, alongside a structure that places Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport as host, the Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa as supporter and TouchPoint as organizational partner. The concept is deliberately broader than an airfield spectacle: it combines a public aviation programme with an invitation-only business forum intended to create new commercial and institutional connections.

The visual centrepiece will be aviation demonstrations and a static display. Diamond Aircraft, named as a strategic partner, is expected to present aircraft including the DA40 NG, DA42-VI, DA50 RG and DA62. For Bulgaria, the presentation is being positioned as an important introduction of the Austrian manufacturer’s modern light-aircraft range to aviation professionals, flight schools, prospective buyers and investors.

Around the aircraft, the airport will become a temporary exhibition platform. Planned zones include aviation and technology organizations, drone companies, aviation education and academies, local producers and a premium automotive showcase. Range Rover is also listed among the strategic partners.

The guest strategy is equally important. The organizers are targeting representatives of the aviation industry, business, institutions, academia, the diplomatic community and international partners. Rather than publishing unconfirmed political attendance as fact, the event’s public materials describe the forum through the institutions and sectors it intends to convene.

This is also a regional-development story. Gorna Oryahovitsa has rail, road and air connectivity, an industrial tradition and a developing industrial park near the airport. The forum gives the city an opportunity to show that aviation can be connected to logistics, manufacturing, education and investment rather than treated as a stand-alone sector.

For media, Aviation Day offers a rare combination: aircraft in motion, new technology, business access and a regional transformation narrative. The question on 17 October will not simply be who flies. It will be whether Gorna Oryahovitsa can turn one day of visibility into a longer aviation and investment trajectory.
