The Filharmonie Brno, three distinguished opera soloists and Maestro Arkady Beryn come together for a gala evening at one of Berlin’s most celebrated concert halls on 2 November 2026.On Monday, 2 November 2026, the Großer Saal of the Philharmonie Berlin will host an Opera Gala bringing together three distinguished soloists: American tenor René Barbera, French baritone Florian Sempey and soprano Alisa Medvedeva. They will perform with the Filharmonie Brno under the direction of Maestro Arkady Beryn. The evening is conceived as a journey through some of opera’s most recognisable and beloved moments. Rather than presenting a single opera, the programme brings arias, duets and orchestral works together in one concert, giving the audience the opportunity to experience three different voices and a full symphony orchestra over the course of the evening.René Barbera has appeared on many of the world’s leading opera stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Opéra national de Paris and the Vienna State Opera. In 2011, he became the first singer to win all three top prizes at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition.French baritone Florian Sempey is particularly associated with the role of Figaro in The Barber of Seville, which he has performed at major opera houses including the Opéra national de Paris and the Royal Opera House in London. In 2022, he was named Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.Soprano Alisa Medvedeva, a graduate of the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire, has appeared alongside artists including Andrea Bocelli and Il Divo. Her performances have also taken her to international stages, including Dubai Opera, where she appeared in the Christmas Opera Gala in December 2025.The soloists will be joined by the Filharmonie Brno, one of the Czech Republic’s principal orchestras. Founded in 1956, the ensemble has developed an extensive international presence while remaining an important part of the Czech musical tradition.Maestro Prof. Arkady Beryn conducts. A conductor with more than forty years of professional experience, he served as Chief Conductor of the Internationale Symphoniker Deutschland from 2003 to 2011 and has led orchestras including the Berliner Symphoniker, the Leipziger Symphoniker, the Camerata Salzburg and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared in the Philharmonie Berlin, the Vienna Musikverein and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and alongside artists such as Aida Garifullina, Roberto Alagna and José Carreras. “Dirigent Beryn ist der Star” – conductor Beryn is the star – was how one German newspaper headlined his performance. The programme moves between solo arias, duets and orchestral pieces. Barbera will perform “Che gelida manina” and “Una furtiva lagrima”, while Sempey will take on “Largo al factotum”, the Toreador Song and “Fin ch’han dal vino”. Medvedeva’s programme includes “Quando me’n vo’”, with the singers also coming together in duets and ensemble moments. The setting is itself an important part of the evening. Designed by Hans Scharoun and opened in 1963, the Philharmonie Berlin is one of the German capital’s defining cultural landmarks. Its distinctive auditorium surrounds the central stage with rising terraces, creating an unusually close relationship between performers and audience. For one evening, this landmark Berlin stage will bring together artists with careers spanning Europe, the United States and beyond — combining internationally established voices, a major Czech orchestra and a programme built around the immediacy of live opera.EVENT INFORMATIONOperngala-Nacht – Opera Gala at the Philharmonie BerlinMonday, 2 November 2026, 20:00Philharmonie Berlin – Großer SaalHerbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin, GermanyConductor: Maestro Arkady BerynSoloists: René Barbera, tenor; Florian Sempey, baritone; Alisa Medvedeva, sopranoOrchestra: Filharmonie Brno (Brno Philharmonic)Programme: Arias, duets, overtures and intermezzi by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Puccini, Bizet, Verdi, Mascagni, Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Dvořák and Zequinha de AbreuTickets: from €26.50 via Eventim – eventim.de/artist/philharmonie-berlin/operngala-nacht-philhamonie-berlin-4122419Event page: Philharmonie Berlin – berliner-philharmoniker.de/en/concert/calendar/57371Event listing: visitBerlin – visitberlin.de/en/event/brno-philharmonic-opera-gala-night
